I would like to say a few words in support of Dr. Maki and the professional way he handles his clients.
Several years ago when I went on a visit to my General practitioner I asked him if he thought I was over medicated. After some hem and hawing all he could answer was that he was there to advise me.
I surely thought there should be a better answer and in discussing this event with a friend, this friend suggested I contact Dr. Maki and see what help might be available. Now you need to understand that at the time I was on diabetic medicine, heart medicine, blood pressure medication, cholesterol meds and Synthroid since my thyroid had been completely removed years earlier.
Dr. Maki listened to my story and asked if I truly felt as if I was over medicated. I said yes I believed that to be the case and thought there should at least be some reduction because my tests were fairly good. Dr. Maki said that it would take some time to remove the medication from my system but felt that I could achieve a better success without the heavy dosages.
First Dr. Maki ordered a series of blood tests (which had never been done previously) to determine just how my body was working. When these tests were received he gave me a talk on what he would do and the results he expected. It was interesting what we found out and exactly what was needed.
In time, I was taken off all the diabetic, blood pressure meds and heart meds. It was done over a period of time so that my body could adjust to working on its own. Dr. Maki was concerned that my thyroid meds may not reacting as best they should and since then he has slowly been working on improving that which I don’t have (my thyroid).
My blood work is extremely good. There has been no reactions. I do not see a cardiologist, because I don’t need one. My cholesterol readings are in a great range, my heart and blood pressure could fit a normal young boy. My general practitioner can’t believe I am in such good shape at 87 years of age. (It is a different general practitioner).
Even Dr. Maki says I am a living example at my age. I might add that at age twenty, the Army medics gave me up as a lost soul. You probably wouldn’t believe it if you saw m
